Dear Members, Friends, and Fellow Pack Rats,
At the 2012 Up in Michigan conference we will once again be holding a silent auction to benefit the Hinkle Travel Grants which assist graduate students attending our conferences. Thanks to your generous response to our call for the 2008 Kansas City conference our debut fund raiser was a huge success. Many thanks to all who contributed items, to those who bought them and to the graduate students whose efforts proved worthy of receiving the grants!
We are asking you once more to send ahead or bring to the conference those collectibles, valuables, duplicate publications, ephemera and so forth to stock our auction room on the beautiful Victorian campus of the Bay View Association.
We have already received some very generous donations of collections and collectibles from some people who know their heirs will not cherish but instead yard sale items that more like-minded scholars and collectors would love to have. Most items in the last auction were Hemingway related, but if you want to give us Grandmother’s silver, we will accept it. Just please be sure your donation is of monetary, as well as sentimental, value.
Should your cleaning out and culling of artifacts be imminent, you may ship donations to the Ponders for safe-keeping.
