Instructions for choosing your tour bus

An Opening Reception at the Historic Victorian Perry Hotel where Hemingway stayed in 1916.

An evening in downtown Petoskey that includes:

  • The Central Michigan University exhibit Hemingway In Michigan at the Carnegie Library where Hemingway gave a talk on his war experience.

  • The Little Traverse Historical Museum exhibit The Hemingways and Petoskey.

  • A wine and hors d’oeuvres reception given by the Crooked Tree Arts Center

  • The premiere showing of the new CMU public television documentary Little Traverse Bay at the Turn of the Century.

  • The Petoskey Steel Drum Band performing in Pennsylvania Park

  • A self-guided walking tour of Hemingway's Petoskey featuring historic plaques installed to coincide with the conference.

A silent auction to benefit the Hinkle Travel Grants for graduate students.

New and used books and ephemera for sale.

A tour of Walloon Lake Village and Horton Bay.

A cocktail reception at the stunning Bay Harbor Yacht Club with wine, hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar

A tour of the Hemingway family cottage Windemere on Walloon Lake.

The PEN/Hemingway Award Fund Raiser which includes a boat ride on Walloon Lake (weather permitting), a tour of the privately owned Grace Cottage, and a social at Shangri-La (where Ernest and Hadley Hemingway held their wedding reception) and the Horton Bay General Store.

A Sunset Cruise on Lake Michigan under the famous Mackinac Bridge sponsored by WCMU Public Radio with live musical entertainment, a cash bar and hearty hors d'oeuvres.

The Closing Banquet at that impressive Bay Harbor Yacht Club sponsored by the Libraries of Central Michigan University.

Please Note:

As you make your travel plans note that the conference begins at 12:30pm on Sunday June 17th and ends at 10:00pm on Friday June 22nd. If you take the post-conference UP bus tour you will return to Petoskey on Saturday evening June 23rd in time for dinner.
